An Open Letter to Obama - Afghanistan

Dear President Obama,

The news in Afghanistan is not good.

It is very unlikely that the news in this part of the world, under present policies, will ever be good within your term in office.

So perhaps the time has come for lateral thinking.

War is an unintelligent way to resolve international issues. It is almost by definition, whether won or otherwise, an admission of moral and intellectual defeat.

For this reason I urge you to transform your nation's approach – and adopt a policy of close aerial monitoring and decisive encouragement / chastisement in Afghanistan… and bring your troops home.
